Follow up/Next Step Questions

Hello again!

We passed our flood test (yay!) and I had some more questions:

  1. For my FloFX drain, I did NOT paint hydroban on the lower/indented, square part of the drain. I was just reviewing another member's post of their process and saw that they did hydroban this part of the drain. After I drain the water for the flood test, should I go back and paint that indented part with Hydroban?

  2. Should we grout or apply silicone to corners and where the floor meets the walls?

  3. We are using a large piece of tile for the bench top that matches our 12x24 tile. Does it matter whether we lay the bench top first or do the walls first and lay the bench top afterwards? It makes more sense to met o lay the bench top first, but I don't know if that matters.

  4. Along the same lines, I want to use our mosaic tile for the back wall of the niche. Is it alright if I put the mosaic in first and then lay the bottom/top/sides of the niche in? It seems it would be easier that way because you don't have to make the cuts of the mosaic perfect since they'll be hidden by the bottom/top/side tiles.

  5. How long would I need to wait after putting in mosaic on the shower floor before walking on it and starting to install the wall tiles? I would love to lay the floor tile in first and then do the wall tiles, but if it means waiting 3 days for the floor to completely set before walking on it, I would rather do the walls except for the bottom row and save the floor for last. We are trying to be as efficient with our time as possible!

Thanks again everyone for your assistance in our remodel!

I match the slope. I like perfect grout lines. I use a t bevel.
