Starting Lineup

Next step?

Today was the leak down test. It's been six hours and (figers crossed) the water line is holding. This whole project has been right on the edge of my abilities but with everyone's help I think I'm going to make it. Tomorrow I need to move on with the tiling but I'm not sure where to begin? My thought is to do the floor tile first. It's aproximately an inch and three eights, octagional. From there I was going to go up one tile space from the floor and nail several strips of wood across, to support the tile going in above. I'm using 12" x 24" on the walls. Then I got to thinking, since I'm in no hurry, why can't I just set the first row of tile, wait a day and then start in on the tiles above that? Wouldn't it acomplish the same thing as the wood strips? My understanding of the wood strips is that if you start out with the bottom tile first, you run the risk of the tiles above buckling out? The small octagional shapes you see in the pan are from where I did a trial run with the floor tiles. They seem to have left a light mark.

Do you have a laser level? If not I recommend one for setting the wall tiles. They make it easy to ensure all tiles are level. I usually check every other row as I go up just for piece of mind.
