Shower flange above slab by an 1/8”
Got the demo done on my walk-in shower and noticed the flange is above the concrete. Everywhere I’ve read says that should be flush with the slab. Not really looking to break the slab up and replace as I am just a DIYer. I am planning on doing the mortar bed and putting down some hydroban as my waterproofing. I am curious if anyone else has ran into this problem and what they did to remedy it?

Hi Zach - building a tile shower is not an easy process. There are different approaches and methods. It sounds like you are going for an old school water in/water out system. Hydroban does not work with that type of system unless you do a “divot method”.
I recommend switching over to a sealed system. But we’ll need some more info from you
