Bathroom Subfloor
I’m remodeling an upstairs bathroom and have a question about subfloor assemblies:
The existing floor assembly is 2x10s @ 24” o.c. with 1/2” OSB. My plan is to add an additional 1/2” of OSB (screwed @ 6”) and add a layer of Ditra for a total of 1-1/8” subfloor thickness. Is my plan adequate for 12x24 porcelain tile?

Hi James, 1/2" OSB using 24 in oc floor joists isn't much of a structure. Adding another 1/2 in is a great idea. I suggest using a good construction adhesive to join the two layers. Loctite PL Max or equivalent would be my suggestion. Screw it down and let it cure for 12 hours before adding the Ditra. Larry is spot on right, stagger the joints on the two layers of OSB. You want a really stiff subfloor. When I did mine I also used a leveling compound before putting down the ditra.
If you haven't purchased the OSB yet I suggest you take a look at Avantech subfloor material. It's specially designed to handle the moisture you could see in a bathroom.
Good luck
