Leaky Shower Pan
I got my first home 3 months ago, about 2 weeks ago I observed water leaking from my shower to downstairs living room.
I had plumber come-in and check the water leak by opening living room ceiling drywall, after observing drains and water lines, plumber diagnosed the issue as shower pan leak.
My existing shower has travertine stone on the walls and pebble's on the flooring, with hot mop.
The water damage restoration team opened the showerpan (tile & hotmop), and confirmed water leak from showerpan (though I don't see any water strains or marks on shower pan).
Now I am at a phase where I need to put back the shower pan. I had few contractors came-in to check and advice on right thing to do. I got two different advises
Question:
Few contractors told me I need to replace all the tile on the shower wall to seal it properly. Others mentioned, I need to just take 16 inches from the floor.
I am confused on the right approach. Can you please advise?

Removing the curb, pan and at least 12” of wall tile is a must. The higher you go, the easier it is to tie everything back together for the repair.
