Deck mud shower pan....

Hi there. So, just an average Joe homeowner redoing our shower and have a question concerning the mortar shower pan I just put in, for the second time. First go around, top was crumbly and wasn't satisfied. I put down the initial thinset slurry on slab and I'm thinking the mix was probably on the dry side. Anyway, hammered it up, which also came up pretty easy.

I took it down an inch and Quickcrete recommended the acrylic fortifier since was going to be about an inch. I didn't do the thinset slurry this time as the instructions said the fortifier was also a bonding agent. The pan turned out nice and smooth and was super satisfied until i started knocking on the pan and it sounded hollow. I tapped around the whole pan with a soft mallet and then tapped around with a hammer and then stomped around on my heels and all stays intact. Worth adding, i did notice some small hairline cracks but not sure if thats from the curing process or from bonding issues. The cracks didn't get worse when tapped with the hammer. Is this gonna have to come up again and redone? It feels solid but doesn't sound solid. I was planning on waterproofing with Hydroban and I have a floFX drain if that means anything. Sorry for the long post but I appreciate any feedback!

Hollow is never great. My guess is that the second layer didn’t bond to the original drypack.
