It is a team effort...

Could not have done this without your help. 40 year old tub to shower conversion on concrete floor, horizontal drain, 5/8 in sheetrock to match, curvy walls, the works. The shower is done just waiting for the correct shower door to be delivered (yet another story).

Had to use Schluter horizontal drain to match up with existing drain pipe. Raised shower floor approximately 3 1/2 inches using Kerdi board and hydroban board with a kerdi preformed base. Made the curb from kerdi as well. Leveled the ceiling prior to tiling the shower (thanks for that tip in one of your videos Isaac!) so the top row is full tiles with no trimming all around. Also, note for instance, the bottom of the vertical grab bar is the same height as the horizontal grab bar. These design considerations take no time but make a big difference in how it all comes together.

I used the cobbled floor tile to make a live edge for the niche which both extends the shelf out and looks great. The niche is set for lights but not yet installed. Wrapping the tile around the corners makes the shower seamless when inside. I am very pleased with the result. Seeing the tile in the showroom (Mystic Ocean at The Tile Shop), I was immediately drawn to it but thought it might be too much in a small space however, it really works.

Thanks again for the help and the videos. After this, the floor (dark gray 12x24 matte finish) will be a walk in the old park. Only with the help of you all and a few others (hats off to Sal!), I could pull this off.

All the best,

Dan

This is beautiful. I have 2 questions. How do you feel about the Kohler Anthem Valve and Trim kit? Any install advice or hacks? Did you put the pebble down as sheets or peel off the sheets and do them one at a time?
