Tile Redi
I just saw the other day that you guys endorse Tile Redi. I independently landed on Tile Redi last summer, after a lot of online research. For a first time DIY-er such as myself, it really saves a lot of steps and a lot of possible mistakes.
I will say that getting the pan settled down into the mortar, and seated onto the drain stub, all while the PVC cement was rapidly setting up, was outrageously stressful for me. The consequences of that failing were huge in my mind (ripping up the pan & mortar, re-chipping the slab to re-do the drain plumbing, etc etc). I was terrified that the pan drain fitting had not properly seated down onto the stub before the PVC cement set up. But in the end it did and all was OK. I chalk it up to it being the first time for me. After someone does this a few times it's probably not that big of a deal.
But man oh man, I wish I had thought to come here and get some advice before setting that pan into the mortar. I talked to the Tile Redi tech support guys numerous times before "mortar day", but they didn't fill me with confidence that I was going to get it right.
It was kind of a large-ish pan, and it was quite sluggish settling down into the mortar. Plus it was a tight fit with no room to wiggle it back and forth like they show on their installation video.
Everything worked out, but I won't soon forget the stress of that day.

Excellent. Can you share photos?
