Tile Layout
Finally ready to lay tile as I finally got my stone for the bench, niche, & curb. My question is around layout. I like the idea of having a full width tile on top of the bench, but that layout results in a 6” tile at the floor and a 3 inch sliver at the ceiling. Do most folks put the tile behind the stone on the bench or on top of it. If I put it behind the bench, it would add about an inch or so to the top tile.

I wouldn't be too concerned with the cut above the bench, as long as it is not under 2" or so. I think the top of the niche is more important, because that is wher eye level is and usually the first think someone looks at when they walk into the room. Second priority is the top, third the floor, and lastly the top of the bench.
Also, if we have the bench top before tiling we would rather install the bench top before the wall tile and stack the wall tile on top of the bench.
