Fireplace tiling - progress posts

Spent Sunday on the initial tiles. Much respect to those dealing with the large format tiles, serious workout getting those into place. Unfortunately the structure I'm mounting them on is a bit out-of-wack so getting the placement correct it a bit of a chore. Shattered the left side tile while trying to get the bottom aligned since the thinset requirement is 1/4" there while the top has near 1/2" requirement to get near plumb. I think my back butter on the bottom was too thick. Also think the thinset was near end of pot life by the time I was setting that tile given the extreme firmness. So I get to cut a new tile for next weekend's work. Will continue posting to this thread as I complete this.

I would cut the top tile 1/8" larger, unless the reveal on the fireplace is noticeably off. But from what I can see it looks fine!
