General Tile Discussion

It was a video called something like "let's do a waterfall the easy way" and it was actually similar to other ways I have seen. Instead of doing the glass mosaic on the wall, I got some 1/4" waterproof foam backer board and made it into two big tiles that fit together like legos. 1. I cut my first glass mosaic. I put blue painters tape on either side of the cut line mainly so I could see it but just as Issac said in a video - use a glass cutting blade and go slow and smooth. There was one small piece of glass that was on the tray when I finished but could not find any chips in the cut so, win? The cut lines are at the top and bottom so it was lower risk.

These seem to weigh less than an equivalent porcelain tile and it is now about the same thickness as the field tiles I have so I won't need to put in any transition.

2. My wife: "I don't mind when you watch the tile coach videos" and on Elite tile :I love his New Balance - how come you wear boots and not your new balance when you are working in the basement." I have a 4E foot - New Balance is about my only choice in shoes and Red Wings for boots. 3. I have been avoiding owning a table saw for my entire life. Issac said in the training wheels floating a pan video to just get one because you will need one. Okay - GAME CHANGER. 4. This will get lost probably but funny anecdote - I ran into a former director (boss's boss) that I used to work for and we started talking tile. So my plan has always been to tile the basement bathroom and take my learnings to do the other thee bathrooms in my house. He did the same thing and then tiled showers for his in laws.
