Different tile thickness

On one wall of a shower I'll putting 2 different tile thickness, about 1/8" different between the two. I was thinking I could use 1/4x 1/4 trowel on the one and a 3/8 x 1/4 on the other to make up the difference. Or should I put a layer of 1/8" Thinset in the section where the thinner tile is going and let it dry first then tile the thinner tile? Thanks.

Depends on the type of tile.

I've attached glass mosaic to sheet membrane in advance to give tiles extra thickness.

Larger tiles, I've buried a couple spacers in the mortar so not too push the tile in too far.

I've used leveling clips just bring the two flush with one another as well

But trying to set a mortar bed 1\8" in advance would be the most difficult. Imo
