Shower plan review
DIY'er here. Don't want to proceed with a major design issue ... your feedback is appreciated.
This is a master bathroom renovation. Entrance from the bedroom is via the door on the left. The original layout had the typical alcove bathtub, full height partition wall, then claustrophobic 32" square (finished size) shower. Bathtub was never used, shower used daily. I would have been OK going without a bathtub, however all feedback says don't do it. Indeed the bathroom is quite large. Problem is the layout is essentially square rather than a longer rectangle. This plan requires that the current wall between the shower and closet be moved to the right.
Question: Will this layout / these dimensions work as a curbless, doorless, walk-in shower?
I understand that 3'8" is not a sufficient depth for a doorless shower with the showerhead directed towards the entrance. Will having the showerhead positioned as shown allow this layout to work? Showerhead could be positioned a little closer the wall (20") making it 24" from the entrance. I'm thinking there shouldn't be an issue when using an overhead/"rain" type showerhead. When using the higher pressure showerhead directed from the wall to the body, will directing the showerhead somewhat towards the back corner be enought to mitigate issues of spray outside the entrance?
Related question: Using a custom pan, is it possible to extend the slope slightly beyond the shower entrance (towards the bathtub) ie. make the pan a little deeper than the 44" of the walled area of the shower? I can ask RSS, but wondering if anybody has done something similar.
