First shower
Hello,
I'm doing my very first shower DIY. I've looked at a lot of video on Youtube and after watching the ones from Isaac O. he earned my trust. I learnt alot and I especially learnt not to rely on what the tiles shop tells you.
The tile shop proposed to use the full Schluter kit with unmodified thin-set. After watching the video from Isaac that "test" the Schluter system with unmodified thin-set.. I changed my mind.
So I made my own plan and I would like to know if this make sense or if there is anything I could improve.
I'm planning on using:
1) Schluter baseboard (for the slop in the shower)
2) Schluter all-set (for tiles and membranes)
3) Normal Drywall mud with the Cement boards.
4) Schluter membrane on wall and floor (even though I will be using Schluter DITRA-HEAT even in the shower)
5) Mapelastic AquaDefense on wall and floor (on top of Schluter membrane.)
Additional note:
- My walls will be cement boards.
- I will have Schluter DITRA-HEAT all over, even in the shower.
I don't really mind paying more to avoid bad surprises. Especially that I will be saving 2/3 of the cost doing it myself.
Thank you!

Yes, you will need to relief cut the large tiles to form an "envelope" cut for proper slope and to avoid lippage. No need to cut the Ditra Heat.
