What is the right drill for cement board
Hello,
I have been having issue getting the screws sink into the board with out it popping out numerous times. The drill is pretty heavy. It is a little manageable if I hold the drill to the stomach and use body to push it in. I am worried that its going to be hard to screw the board on top side of the wall. Is it normal to take a few times to get the screw to set into the cement board? Or is there a different drill that can make the job a little easier maybe a drywall drill? I am using a cement board screw.
Thanks for your help!
Annie

I wish I had read this when I was doing the first shower. I didn't realize my drill has an impact setting, since I haven't done a lot of major construction in the past few years. That was one mistake. I had the same issue as @Annie Li , and I'm pretty strong. I have the same exact screws and found them incredibly frustrating. The one issue I had with them is that they would not countersink, and would cause the backer board (Hardie) to bulge on the rare occasion that they did countersink. I had to do a ton of extra work to get the walls flat.
For the second shower, I went with GoBoard, washers, and a different screw that I've used before on external applications. I would have saved about a week's worth of work if I had just gone with that solution. The second shower me about 5 hours to get the walls in, including cutting, shimming and squaring walls, and installation.
