Shower Extension - with sunken floor

Hello new member here,

Looking for some guidance on how to extend my shower to the left in the attached picture without tearing into any concrete if at all possible. Can i use deck mud to build up the sunken area then additional deck mud to build the base / slope for the shower floor. Not sure how thick you can go with deck mud? The sunken area is approx 3.75 inches deep.

Thanks in advance

Gonna have to tear out a little concrete to raise that drain though.

If you're not concerned with having or not having a curb, then yes you can go a number of ways. I personally would chip it out to keep the shower as low as possible.

  1. You can fill it flat with concrete, then do a dry pack pan like in coaches videos.

  2. Take out that chunk of the left slab and only do a dry pack

  3. Fill it flat and Schluter or other foam pan.
