Dry Pack Mortar Bed - sandy top & low spots

Hi all,

I let my dry pack mortar bed dry for 72 hours.

Top is a bit sandy/loose, but the bottom feels nice and solid. Also noticed a few areas with divots/low spots. Nothing more than 1/16, kind of looks like craters on a moon or something.

Does this need any remedies or should it be good to go with hydroban waterproofing?

Thanks!

I believe I have the same type of issue, but mine looks worse. Do I follow the same instructions? it is hard as a rock but the top layer just keeps brushing sandy I have vacuumed it. Is this because I did not mix it with enough water? it was mopei 4:1 from lowe's. I am hoping you say ALL SET thin set it and let that cure and move on to water proofing and water test. If I do have to redo, do I need a new flow fx because I used ALL Set on the leveled subfloor and the under side of the drain flange.

Thank for any advice you have.
